An intermediate doubles player's first two hours with the new 4U Astrox 88S Pro (BG66 Ultimax at 27 lbs), compared with six months on the Astrox 77 Pro: slightly more head-heavy in feel, a little slower, and softer in the shaft than feared.

“Stiffness - the new 88S Pro bends more than the 77 Pro, feels somewhat softer. Initially I was worried that the racket could be as stiff as the previous 88D Pro (the gold colour) or 100zz”

Owns the Astrox 88S Pro and 88D Pro (3rd gen) and mainly uses the 88S Pro: lighter and easier for drives, defence and net play, but short of backcourt power, which they partly put down to technique. After a month on the 88D Pro they felt late on drives and defence.

“it feels lighter and easier for drives, defence and net play, which is what it's designed for. The obvious downside is the lack of power from the back court on clears and smashes.”
